The biopic they thought would never get made is confounding all critics as Mötley Crüe finds a new audience who are rating the film higher than all other films on the streaming service.

Reacting to the news Tommy Lee commented, “We knew the Mötley Crüe fans, who had made The Dirt book a New York Times Bestseller, would be keen to see the movie after hearing it was coming for the past 15 years, but we weren’t expecting the new younger audience reaction to the movie and the music.”

Tommy Lee’s observations from the fan reactions on social media are reflected in the streaming data. The age demo for fans streaming Mötley Crüe’s music includes a much younger demographic. In fact, over the last 28 day, 64% of Spotify streamers were between 18 and 34 years.

Recently, Netflix reported its biggest ever subscriber growth.  In the first quarter of 2019 Netflix gained a record number of new subscribers and now has nearly 149,000,000 members worldwide.

Like Netflix, Mötley Crüe has also experienced rapid growth with google search increasing 4300% and sales up 2000%, with albums including The Dirt Soundtrack, Dr Feelgood, Too Fast For Love, and Greatest Hits charting on iTunes since the release of the film.

Allen Kovac CEO of Eleven Seven Music and Manager of Mötley Crüe commented, “We are seeing a reaction nearly identical to Spotify streaming demographic numbers with our partners at Apple, Deezer and Amazon. The movie is bringing Mötley’s music into the homes, universities dorms and handheld devices of the streaming generation, some of which only knew Mötley Crüe as a cool t-shirt. With Pete Davidson, Machine Gun Kelly and Iwan Rheon from Game of Thrones staring in the film, people are discovering Motley and then going on to buy the vinyl or stream their music. We are already on a new reprint of The Dirt Soundtrack vinyl, as we sold out across Europe.”

The Rotten Tomatoes 95% audience rating demonstrates that this cautionary tale of excess and the world’s most notorious rock band is compelling and engaging.

Nikki Sixx added, “In the movie we re-tell the time Mötley Crüe ignored the advice that Ozzy Osbourne gave us about too much excess driving you crazy. We motored-on at 100 miles an hour, to self-destruction which ultimately lead to me being declared medically dead and the band splitting up. I find it hard to watch myself being resuscitated in the ambulance with a double shot of adrenaline to the heart. It’s like an out of body experience all over again. If we can persuade one person not to take hard drugs this film will be worth it just for that.”

With tremendous success from the film’s soundtrack, the lead track, “The Dirt (Est. 1981) (feat. Machine Gun Kelly)”  has helped introduce the band from a VH1 audience to a younger MTV and YouTube audience, having been added to MTV channels around the world.

As fans watch the biopic, they are SHAZAM-ing and (re)discovering the entire Mötley catalog. One of the most talked about scenes from the film is Billy Squier’s song, “My Kinda Lover” that Vince performs with his band Rock Candi.  And because of the renewed interest in the song, Eleven Seven Music will be releasing a new version soon.

“During the filming of our movie we got excited and inspired to write new music. Getting back in the studio with Bob Rock just fueled the creative fires for us. To me, the music sounds like classic Mötley. The lyrics were written for the movie and are a reflection of our life.” - Nikki Sixx

'Motley Crue: The End' Coming To Selected Cinemas in Europe, Latin America + Australia 13 October

For one night only on Thursday 13th October, selected cinemas across the UK and Europe, South America, Australia and Japan will be screening “Mötley Crue: The End” – a film documenting the legendary band’s final ever show, and truly marking “The End” for Mötley fans all over the world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdOlOE6vl6s

On 31st December 2015, rock icons Mötley Crüe completed their 35-year touring career as a band. The spectacular final concert was held at Staples Center in their hometown of Los Angeles, CA, just 10 miles from the Sunset Strip where the band’s infamous and decadent career first launched. The band thrilled the sold-out arena with performances of mega-hits such as “Kickstart My Heart,” “Girls, Girls, Girls,” “Home Sweet Home” and “Dr. Feelgood.”

While not everyone was able to witness their Final Show live, Mötley Crüe fans can catch all the action when MusicScreen, Live Alliance, Eagle Rock Entertainment and Tenth Street Entertainment present “Mötley Crüe: The End” in selected cinemas worldwide on Thursday 13th October 2016. In addition to the epic concert footage, cinema audiences will be treated to behind-the-scenes footage of the band’s last few shows.

In January 2014, Mötley Crüe held a press conference announcing their Final Tour, complete with a “cessation of touring” agreement signed by all members prohibiting any and all future live engagements under the Mötley Crüe name. Mötley Crüe’s two-year concert trek saw the band — Vince Neil (vocals), Mick Mars (guitars), Nikki Sixx (bass) and Tommy Lee (drums) — perform across five continents (North America, South America, Europe, Australia and Asia) for a total of more than 164 shows in 72 markets grossing over $100 million.

Known for their over-the-top production, Mötley Crüe did not disappoint for their last ever show on New Year’s Eve. Huge, cutting-edge pyro stunts included Nikki Sixx’s bass guitar spitting fire over 30 ft. into the air, while Tommy Lee’s “Crüecifly” drum roller coaster soared over crowds. Lead singer Vince Neil delivered an emotional “Thank you” speech to the audience, while the band supplied next-level, high-octane fuelled energy, ringing in the New Year on stage with thousands of balloons raining down on the crowd. The grand finale of the show included a blow-out performance of their hit single, “Kickstart My Heart” with Nikki Sixx and Vince Neil floating above the audience in far-reaching “cherry-pickers.” Leaving fans in tears, the show concluded with an emotional encore rendition of “Home Sweet Home” from the second stage riser in the center of the audience.

“Mötley Crüe: The End” was produced and distributed by Live Alliance and Eagle Rock Entertainment. Christian Lamb directed the concert portion. Jeff Tremaine, creator of the “Jackass” series, directed the documentary segment.
